CONSTRUCTION TO COMMENCE IN 2024

The re-zoning of this triangular garden area from Coastal National Park to Built-Up Area has created the opportunity to develop this exceptional site, which enjoys views to Mont Orgueil Castle over the Royal Jersey Golf Course, and clear unimpeded views of Grouville Bay. A strategic part of this plot will be protected and landscaped to serve as a protected species habitat. Both dwellings have been designed as ‘upside down houses’, which allow for private garden and sleeping zones, while providing the living accommodation with elevated clear views of the seascape to the East.

 

Extra care was taken in locating and designing the units to ensure that they did not screen the castle views enjoyed by neighbouring properties. The dwellings have also been carefully placed within the sloping contours of the site to further minimise their visual impact onto the surrounding context, thus allowing the new architecture to be better integrated into the existing environnment.

 

A principal design generator to the dwellings, which have been conceived as a matching pair, has been sustainability. The roof planes have been conceived as a fifth elevation, which generate electrical power and also contribute towards biodiversity. The interior design packages to each house will generate spatially exciting rooms and spaces which will be in keeping with the general quality of the setting.
