We sought to enhance the existing historic main house, associated cottage and grounds while contrasting these elements with a contemporary extension. The juxtaposition of these features would provide the visual drama hoped for by the clients. The modern additions would provide the modern open plan internal rooms which are so much part of today’s patterns of living. These same principles were also applied to the garden design which was conceived as a series of outside rooms.
