Although this project, carried out for the then Transport and Technical Services Department (TTS), was undeniably contentious when first completed, it has undoubtedly delivered significant improvements in safety and community for the parishioners living in the village centre.

Community engagement was thorough. Research was carried out of nearby French village improvements which incorporated the principles of La Voire Pont Tous and the UK ‘shared space’ principles in sensitive rural areas.
